Teysuno (Tegafur/gimeracil/oteracil) is a fixed-dose combination medication used for the treatment of advanced gastric (stomach) cancer. Teysuno is used along with cisplatin (another cancer medicine).
- Patients with teysuno dosage and low WBC counts should be monitored for infection and risk of other complications of neutropenia and treated as medically indicated.
- Patients should be tested for HBV infection before initiating treatment with tegafur/gimeracil/oteracil capsules.
- Patients with diarrhoea should be carefully monitored and given fluid and electrolyte replacement if they become dehydrated.
- Prior to starting treatment with teysuno capsules, it is recommended that patients are tested to check whether they have a working DPD enzyme.
