Brexafemme comes as an oral tablet that contains ibrexafungerp citrate, a triterpenoid antifungal agent. It is widely used in adults and post-menarchal pediatric females for:
- treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) or Vaginal Yeast Infection.
- reduction in the occurrence of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC).
Recommended Dosage: Brexafemme tablets may be taken with or without food, exactly as your doctor tells you to take them. Take two tablets (300 mg) orally in the morning, and take two tablets (300) orally in the evening. If possible, the two doses (2 pills each) should be taken approximately 12 hours apart.
Treatment of VVC: The recommended dosage in adult and post-menarchal pediatric females is 300 mg (2 Brexafemme 150 mg tablets) administered around 12 hours apart (in the morning and in the evening) for one day, for a total daily dosage of 600 mg (4 Brexafemme 150 mg tablets).
Reduction in the Incidence of RVVC: The recommended dosage in adult and post-menarchal pediatric females is 300 mg (2 Brexafemme 150 mg tablets) administered around 12 hours apart (in the morning and in the evening) for a single day, for a total daily dosage of 600mg (four 150 mg pills of Brexafemme) monthly for 6 months.
- Brexafemme 150 mg is contraindicated in pregnancy because it may be responsible for causing fetal harm behalf of the data from animal reproductive studies.
- For females of reproductive age, verify that the respective patient is not pregnant before starting Ibrexafungerp 150 mg treatment. Reassessing the pregnancy status before each dose is recommended when this medicine is used monthly for six months for a reduction in the incidence of RVVC.
