Anagrelide Hydrochloride Capsules are used for the treatment of patients with thrombocythemia, secondary to myeloproliferative disorders, in order to reduce the elevated platelet count and the risk of thrombosis and to ameliorate associated signs and symptoms including thrombo-hemorrhagic events.
- The anagrelide uses are restricted in patients with the severe hepatic impairment. Exposure to anagrelide is enhanced 8-fold in patients with moderate hepatic impairment.
- The anagrelide 0.5 mg should be used with caution in patients with known or suspected heart disease, and only in case the potential benefits of therapy outweigh the potential risks.
- In patients with moderate hepatic impairment, the dose reduction of anagrelide drug is required and patients should be monitored for cardiovascular effects.
- Liver function tests (ALT, AST) should be measured before initiating anagrelide 1 mg treatment and during therapy
