Zepzelca is an alkylating medication used for the treatment of adult patients with metastatic small cell lung cancer (SCLC) with disease progression on or after platinum-based chemotherapy.
Recommended Dosage: The recommended dosage of Zepzelca (Lurbinectedin for Injection) is 3.2 mg/m2 by intravenous infusion over 60 minutes every 21 days until the disease is progressive or unacceptable toxicity occurs.
- Start therapy with Lurbinectedin only in case the absolute neutrophil count (ANC) is minimum 1,500 cells/mm3 and platelet count is minimum 100,000/mm3.
- Lurbinectedin can be responsible for causing myelosuppression. Blood counts need to be assessed including neutrophil count and platelet count before every single administration.
- The zepzelca 4 mg injection can be responsible for causing hepatotoxicity. Monitor liver function tests, prior to initiating therapy, periodically while on therapy, and as clinically indicated.
- Women should not conceive pregnancy and should not breastfeed during treatment with injection Zepzelca and for at least 14 days after the last dose.
- Patients should inform their health specialists of all concomitant medicines, herbal and dietary supplements. Patients should avoid grapefruit products while on treatment with Lurbinectedin.
