Vyondys 53 is an antisense oligonucleotide used for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) in patients (adults and children) who have a confirmed mutation of the DMD gene that is amenable to exon 53 skipping.
Recommended Dosage: The recommended dosage of Vyondys 53 injection is 30 milligrams per kilogram administered once weekly as a 35-60 minute intravenous infusion via an in-line 0.2 micron filter. If a dose is missed, it may be administered as promptly as possible after the scheduled dose.
- Urine dipstick, serum cystatin C, and urine protein-to-creatinine ratio should be measured prior to starting Vyondys 53 therapy. Consider measurement of glomerular filtration rate prior to initiation of this therapy.
- Monitoring for kidney toxicity is required during therapy with Vyondys 53 (Golodirsen Injection). Obtain the urine samples before the infusion of this injection or at least 48 hours after the most recent infusion.
- Hypersensitivity reactions, including pyrexia, rash, pruritus, dermatitis, urticaria, and skin exfoliation have appeared in Golodirsen-treated patients. If a hypersensitivity reaction appears, institute apt medical treatment and slow the infusion or interrupt the therapy.
