Voxzogo is a C type natriuretic peptide (CNP) analog used to increase linear growth in pediatric patients with achondroplasia who are aged 5 years and older with open epiphyses.
Recommended Dosage: The recommended dosage of Voxzogo injection is based on the patient’s actual body weight. The usual dose is 15 µg/kg body weight, which is administered by subcutaneous injection once daily. Inject doses at around the fixed time each day, if possible. The volume of drug to be administered (injection volume) is based on the patient’s actual body weight and the concentration of reconstituted Voxzogo (0.8 mg/mL or 2 mg/mL). It must be reconstituted prior to administration.
In case a dose is missed, it can be administered within 12 hours of the scheduled time of administration. Beyond 12 hours, skip the missed dose and administer the next daily dose as per the usual dosing schedule.
- Monitor as well as evaluate patient body weight, growth, and physical development on a regular basis every 3 to 6 months. Adjust the dosage as per the patient’s actual body weight.
- To reduce the probability of a decrease in blood pressure and associated signs/symptoms (nausea, dizziness, fatigue), patients should be well hydrated and have adequate food intake before administration of vosoritide injection.
- Permanently discontinue treatment of vosoritide upon confirmation of no further growth potential, indicated by the closure of epiphyses.
- It is recommended that the injection is given in a different place each time and do not use the same site two days in a row. Do not inject vosoritide into birthmarks, moles, scars, or such areas which are tender, bruised, red, or hard.
- In case you or your child are being treated with vosoritide and are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or want to have a baby, ask your health specialist for words before therapy. Vosoritide uses are not recommended during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
