Medical Uses
Ravicti (glycerol phenylbutyrate) is a nitrogen-binding agent used for chronic management of patients with urea cycle disorders (UCDs) for whom dietary protein restriction and/or amino acid supplementation is inadequate. This therapeutic drug is used in conjunction with dietary protein restriction and, in certain instances, dietary supplements.
Limitations of Use:
Ravicti is not indicated for the treatment of acute hyperammonemia in patients with urea cycle disorders (UCDs). Additionally, its safety and efficacy for the treatment of N-acetylglutamate synthase (NAGS) deficiency have not been established.
Recommended Dosage: The recommended dose of Ravicti (glycerol phenylbutyrate) oral liquid is taken as prescribed by your healthcare provider (HCP), and they may adjust the dose if needed. Always take it with food or formula, and if breastfeeding an infant, give it just before feeding. Use a new reclosable bottle cap adapter with every new bottle and a new dry oral syringe for each dose to ensure proper administration.
Take any missed dose as soon as it is recognised. However, if the next scheduled dose is within 2 hours for adults and within 30 minutes for children, the missed dose should be omitted, and the usual dosing schedule resumed. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.
