Medical Uses

Alhemo (concizumab-mtci) is a tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) antagonist used for routine prophylaxis to help prevent or reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes in adult and pediatric patients aged 12 years and older with: hemophilia A (congenital factor VIII deficiency) with FVIII inhibitors and hemophilia B (congenital factor IX deficiency) with FIX inhibitors.

Recommended Dosage: The recommended dose of Alhemo is administered by subcutaneous injection into the abdomen or thigh, with daily rotation of injection sites. On Day 1, a loading dose of 1 mg/kg is recommended. Starting Day 2, administer a once-daily dose of 0.2 mg/kg until the maintenance dose is determined. After 4 weeks, measure concizumab-mtci plasma concentration using an ELISA test (FDA-authorized test unavailable). Adjust the dose based on results no later than 8 weeks:

  • <200 ng/mL: Increase to 0.25 mg/kg daily.
  • 200–4,000 ng/mL: Continue 0.2 mg/kg daily.
  • >4,000 ng/mL: Decrease to 0.15 mg/kg daily.

Warning & Precautions

  • Treatment with Concizumab-mtci 60 mg/1.5 mL (40 mg/mL), 150 mg/1.5 mL (100 mg/mL), and 300 mg/3 mL (100 mg/mL) may increase the risk of thromboembolic events.
