Recommended Dosage:
Administer ALECENSA orally at a dosage of 600 mg twice daily, with food.
- Monitor liver function tests every 2 weeks for the initial 3 months of treatment with ALECENSA, then monthly and as needed, especially in patients experiencing liver enzyme or bilirubin elevations. In case of severe elevations, temporarily stop, adjust dosage, or discontinue treatment.
- Immediately pause ALECENSA if interstitial lung disease (ILD) or pneumonitis is diagnosed, discontinuing permanently if no alternative cause is found.
- For severe renal impairment, temporarily halt ALECENSA, resuming at a lower dose upon recovery or permanently discontinuing.
- Regularly monitor heart rate and blood pressure; if symptomatic bradycardia occurs, pause ALECENSA, adjust dosage, or stop treatment.
- Assess creatine phosphokinase (CPK) levels every 2 weeks initially and in patients reporting unexplained muscle symptoms; temporarily pause, resume at a lower dose, or discontinue ALECENSA for severe CPK elevations.
- ALECENSA may cause fetal harm; advise females of reproductive age to use effective contraception and discuss the potential risks to a fetus.
