Fetroja (Cefiderocol) specifically is a cephalosporin antibacterial used in patients aged 18 years or older to treat the following infections caused by susceptible
Gram-negative microorganisms:
- Complicated Urinary Tract Infections (cUTI), including Pyelonephritis.
- Hospital-acquired Bacterial Pneumonia and Ventilator-associated Bacterial Pneumonia (HABP/VABP).
To reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of Fetroja and other antibacterial drugs, Fetroja should be used only for the treatment or prevention of infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria.
- Use of fetroja 1gm injection is restricted in patients with a known history of severe hypersensitivity to cefiderocol or other beta-lactam antibacterial drugs.
- Closely monitor the clinical response to cefiderocol therapy in patients with cUTI and HABP/VABP.
- Prior to therapy with Fetroja, inquire about previous hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporins, penicillins, or other beta-lactam antibacterial drugs. Discontinue fetroja antibiotic if an allergic reaction occurs.
- Precise medical history is necessary because CDAD has been reported to occur more than two months after the administration of antibacterial agents including fetroja injection.
